How would you use a tool like Voice Thread in your classroom to transform learning?

Oh, the possibilities seem endless!! The first thing that came to mind was spelling, which is a challenge for many of our 6th grade special education students. A picture with the word typed under it and someone pronouncing the word would be very valuable. Often we find that students are working with spelling words that they cannot pronounce. (My biggest concern is the availability of computers.)

Hey MaryEllen!

I think that your idea is great! It would help your kids a lot, especially if it's accompanied by a visual. I know you said computer availability is an issue where you are but maybe once/twice a week you could have the kids use a laptop (teacher or otherwise) where they could take turns, log in, hear the words, record their pronunciation, take a quiz on the meaning, etc. You've really got something there!
You go girl!

Voicethread had many applications in the classroom I think. I know that I plan to make more use of it with my pupils this year.
Welcome to the blogosphere by the way :)

YOu would be surprised in how easily students would use these tools as "homework". Doing work from home and posting it to a class site brings shows the parents the possibilities of 2.0 apps.

Good luck and have fun

Welcome to blogging! Having students work in groups, where each group member speaks (maybe one letter at a time to spell the word) would use fewer computers and might be a solution to the computer scarcity issue.

I think this is a great blog with comments, and having a computer as a center allows all students a chance to participate.

Hi MaryEllen

Terrific use of Voicethread. Can't you hear students practicing the spelling as they record (...and record)?!

They'll love it! And you're very near the computer lab too!
